Gido Washa /manmade Cave/
the place where dogs are thrown alive

It was when the My Fashion magazine reporter came to our office that we heard of dog are thrown in to the Gido cave which the article entitled "The Horrors of Gido Tunnel" is published for the first time in this magazine with our interview, we know this manmade cave exists for a long time and we used to hear about it since our child hood but we never had information that it has been used for this kind of purpose  until the date this reporter came to our office.

Based on this we went to the area with the people who knows it very well and who are members and supporters of our society HAPS, Immediately we reached the area and start to walk to the place where the cave is located, the two people looked at each other at the same time in a sense that they might be mistaken the exact location because they used to know there were three caves while they have seen only one.

One person from that area who was bypassing approached us and explained that the two caves were filled by different things because they were open at the top and were very deep, while the one remaining has a top cover and very deep also but this time it is also becoming to get full.

Then, when our friends realized that they are in the right direction we started to get down to the cave.

While we reach the edge of the cave we saw a very horrible thing which made all of us to feel very sad even to become sick.

What we have seen is all the ground inside the cave is full of bones, which we cannot separate to which animal it belongs.

Next , when we look inside we have seen three dogs at the same place, two of them looks better than the other one, they just looked at us because they are unable to do anything more but the third one is almost  dying she only move her head to the direction she heard a noise.

It seems they completely lost hope and waiting for the moment of their death.

A little bit away from, parallel to them, we have seen another dog looks a little bit of stronger than the others having a strong watch though she is still unable to walk; it seems she is looking for someone to save her from that cave.

A little bit away from this dog there is fresh stomach and a skin which looks someone purposely kept it there but the people around that area told us that the dogs eat each other as there is nothing to eat to survive and when one among them gets weaker and about to die.

Again there is another dead dog inside the water in the same cave.

If it could be human being he might call for help to be saved but the animals even if they call for help no one is looking at them. It is really a terrible situation even to see these animals.

Though death is inevitable for any god creature, we were sick of what we observed at that particular moment.

Even we could not resist this situation and got sick. Another people from that area who observed the situation told us that so many people who came for the first time to see do the same thing considering as a normal process.

They also told us that when people get tired of their unwanted dogs return back home from a far place they throw and then they bring them to this cave so that they will never get back home and bitches with their puppies are also thrown in to that cave, this have been done for a long period of time and it is becoming full as thousands of dogs thrown in to for such a long time.

This cave has been there since Italian ruled over Ethiopia, it is about more than 70 years old and we have information that it was built by Italian and it is three to four kilometers longer in side in to different direction.

We were unable to sleep overnight after coming back from this sad story and my son asked me a question which I could not find an  answer for it, the question was how comes this situation stays like this while there are so many people around even embassies and diplomats residential?
