Visit to Ethiopia 

The AMSALE GESSESSE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION /USA/ President Dr. Anteneh T.Roba and the Vice President Ms. Seble Nebiyeloul came to Ethiopia in April 2007 with different Experts to study the problems of animals and organize ways to assist and improve the existing activities of our society.

We also facilitated necessary preconditions with the concerned government officials and arranged places to be visited for the successfulness of their visit within the specified period of time.

Accordingly the team arrived on April, 27, 2007 at Bole international airport and welcomed by the Homeless Animals Protection Society Team at the airport.

In their stay in Ethiopia they made a visit to:-

·         The Homeless Animals Protection Society’s activity and gathered information on the situation of homeless animals in Addis Ababa.

·         Senekele Swayne’s Hartebeestst Sanctuary

·         Awash National Park

·         Abijata Shala Lakes National park and
 

bullet

·         Bale Mountains National Park

Then after their visit to these places they had a fruitful and promising meeting and discussion with the concerned Federal and Regional higher officials and Expertise including the Deputy Prime Minster of the country and the Addis Ababa City Mayor on issues related to the problem of both wild and pet animals in our country.

In the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minster, he has appreciated the idea of this foundation while the foundation mentioned that one of its objectives is to broaden the scope of the activities of HAPS in all aspects.

In addition the Deputy Prime Minster said that HAPS is doing very well in educating the community about rabies prevention and population control and pointed out that HAPS can be a model organization by mentioning one of the program broadcasted by the Ethiopian Television and promised to the foundation that he can support any of its activities as much as possible.

The Addis Ababa City Mayor also promised to support the activities of HAPS by providing land for the construction of shelter and Clinic in the meeting held at his office, this meeting has also been given attention and broadcasted for the public by the country’s TV and Radio programs.
